Cursor 3 Agents Window
You manage agents, agents write code
Cursor 3 (2026-04-02) rebuilt the editor into a workspace handed over to agents: a full-screen Agents Window, with multiple agents running in parallel on local / worktree / SSH / cloud. SpaceX has officially announced the $60B acquisition, expected to close in Q3.
Highlights
Cursor 3 launch date
The Agents Window replaced the single Composer panel; by 07-10 it had iterated to v3.11.
ARR (2026-06)
Four jumps in a year: $1B (2025-11) → $2B (2026-02) → $3B (April) → $4B (June).
SpaceX acquisition price
An all-stock deal announced 06-16 via an SEC 8-K, expected to close in Q3 2026; the regulatory process is underway.
Pro / Pro Plus monthly
The free Hobby tier remains; Pro Plus is a Cursor-exclusive middle tier.
What the Agents Window is
Cursor 3's core change: from 'one Composer chat box' to a 'full-screen Agents Window.' Instead of directing the AI message by message, you dispatch multiple agents at once — running locally, in git worktrees, on remote SSH hosts or in cloud environments — then review their output and decide what to merge. The positioning moves from editor to agent management platform.
Acquired by SpaceX
Four days after SpaceX completed its Nasdaq IPO on 06-12 (raising $75B), it announced on 06-16 via an SEC Form 8-K the $60B all-stock acquisition of Anysphere — the largest-ever acquisition of a venture-backed startup. The deal is expected to close in Q3 2026; in mid-August the regulatory approval process (FTC, European Commission, etc.) was still underway, and the deal carries a $4B antitrust breakup fee. Once complete, Cursor will fold into the SpaceX structure and gain access to Colossus supercomputing resources.
Timeline
Cursor 3 launches with the Agents Window; v3.2 on 04-24 adds /multitask.
SpaceX announces the $60B all-stock acquisition of Anysphere via an SEC 8-K (it had secured a purchase option back on 04-21).
The deal is expected to close in Q3; as of mid-August the regulatory approval process was underway.
Confirmed vs caveats
Confirmed
The version line (3.0→3.11), the $4B ARR (June), the $60B price with the 8-K filing, and the Pro $20 / Pro Plus $40 pricing are all backed by official documents or Reuters/CNBC-level reporting.
Caveats
Cursor is a closed subscription: you can't enter your own API key or attach third-party endpoints. The 'MITM your Cursor traffic' recipes floating around are gray-area tricks with a ban risk — don't use them in production.
Cursor 3 or Claude Code
Cursor 3
The GUI camp: the Agents Window visually manages multiple parallel agents, suiting people who prefer graphical interfaces and IDE integration.
Claude Code / open tools
The terminal/extension camp: Claude Code lives in the terminal, Cline and friends live in VS Code — the latter can point at your own endpoint and pay per use.
How to get started
Download Cursor 3 from the official site, open the Agents Window (which replaced the old Composer panel), and start on the free Hobby tier. Parallel agents are the core 3.x workflow: the same task can be sent to agents in different environments, then you compare the results.
On QCode
Cursor doesn't accept third-party endpoints, so a QCode key can't be entered. If what you want is 'the same models, pay-per-use, your choice of tools,' QCode offers APIs for seven families — Claude / GPT / Gemini and more — at official pricing times our service rate, used with Cline / OpenCode / Claude Code.
FAQ
What is Cursor 3's Agents Window?
A full-screen agent management interface: multiple agents run in parallel across local, worktree, SSH or cloud environments, and you review and merge instead of chatting message by message.
Was Cursor acquired by SpaceX?
The announcement is real: it was published 06-16 as an SEC Form 8-K ($60B, all stock) — a public document. Closing is expected in Q3 2026, and as of 08-22 the regulatory process was still underway — saying it's 'already done' is inaccurate.
Can Cursor still use other vendors' models after the acquisition?
The deal hasn't closed yet, and no model policy change has been officially announced. If Cursor folds into the SpaceX/xAI structure, tighter Grok integration is the likely path — enterprise customers should assess single-vendor dependence.
How much does Cursor cost?
Hobby is free; Pro is $20/mo; Pro Plus is $40/mo (the middle tier). Heavy agent usage can trigger extra charges — see the official pricing page.
Can I plug in my own API key?
No. Cursor is a closed subscription. For BYOK, use open tools like Cline or OpenCode, or configure an endpoint in Claude Code.
Cursor 3 or Antigravity 2.0?
Both are closed subscriptions. Cursor is stronger in agent management and its installed community; Antigravity is stronger on the free tier and Google ecosystem. Neither accepts custom endpoints — if that matters, use an open tool stack.
