How it works

  1. Each account has one Pay-as-you-go key. It is created with your first pack, and every later pack is added to it.
  2. Buying more: the new quota is added to what is left, and the expiry date becomes the later of the current expiry date and today plus the pack's days.
  3. When a pack expires, the remaining quota is forfeited. Buy any pack later and the same key works again, with no config changes.
  4. You can't buy packs while you have an active personal plan; if the plan's quota isn't enough, buy a booster pack.
  5. If you buy a personal plan later, your pack keeps working until it expires.
  6. 5 concurrent requests and the same models as personal plans. Billed per token; per-model rates are listed on /models.
  7. When the quota runs out, requests return HTTP 402; after expiry they return HTTP 401 (see the error reference).
  8. Packs are non-refundable once purchased (see the Terms of Service).

Example

You have $12 left and buy a Month Pack ($80, 30 days): your quota becomes $92, and the expiry date is the later of the current one and today plus 30 days.

If your current expiry date is 40 days away and you buy a Week Pack (7 days), the quota is still added and the expiry date stays the same.

FAQ

How are packs different from personal plans?
Personal plans (other than Ultimate) are bought by the month and give you a daily quota that resets at 00:00 Beijing time. A pack gives you one lump sum to use within 7–90 days, with no daily cap. For daily use a personal plan costs about half as much per $1 of quota as the Month Pack; for occasional use a pack fits better.
How does buying more work?
The new quota is added to what you have left, and the expiry date becomes the later of the current expiry date and today plus the pack's days. For example, with $12 left, buying a Month Pack ($80) brings you to $92.
Can I still use it after it expires?
After expiry the key stops working (requests return HTTP 401) and the remaining quota is forfeited. Buy any pack later and the same key works again, with no config changes.
I already have a personal plan. Can I buy a pack?
No. While a personal plan is active you can't buy packs; if a day's quota isn't enough, buy a booster pack. Once the plan expires, you can buy packs.
Can I get a refund?
No. Packs are non-refundable once purchased. If you're unsure how much you'll use, start with a Week Pack.
What happens when the quota runs out?
Requests return HTTP 402 with error type insufficient_quota and code total_cost_limit_exceeded. Buy another pack and the quota is added to the same key, so you can carry on right away.
What about teams or reselling?
For several people sharing access with central management, see the Enterprise Team Edition. To resell under your own brand, see the Partner Program.
