Claude Subscription Refunds and Account Bans
As of 2026-10-13, whether you get money back depends first on who took your payment. Anthropic's help center opens with the line that, except as expressly provided in its Consumer Terms of Service or where required by law, all payments are non-refundable, and the Consumer Terms add that no refund is owed when access is terminated for a violation. Subscriptions bought on the App Store can only be reviewed and refunded by Apple, and Google Play refunds are handled by Google and by the developer under their own policies. This page carries the official wording and the official request paths only and does not guess at why an account was banned. QCode is a different shape, a metered API key described on our own ban guide as having no subscription account that could be banned.

Four numbers and one baseline
Refund window in the EEA and UK
Anthropic's help center says customers in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom may receive a refund within 14 days of purchase, that the option may appear in Settings, and that “Your refunds will be prorated according to your use”.
How long Apple takes to reply
Apple's refund guide says to wait 24 to 48 hours for an update on a request made at reportaproblem.apple.com, and that even after approval it may take additional time for the funds to return to your payment method.
How long Google Play takes to decide
Google Play Help says a refund request typically gets a decision in 1 to 4 days, and that approved refunds go back to the original payment method, with most processed within 10 business days.
Anthropic's baseline
The help center: except as expressly provided in the Consumer Terms of Service or where required by law, all payments are non-refundable. The Terms also state that a subscription terminated for a violation gets no refund.
Three things that decide whether you are paid back
As of 2026-10-13, whether you get money back depends on who took your payment, and the published wording settles three points. First, who was paid: the help center is blunt about iOS, saying a Claude for iOS subscription was purchased through the Apple App Store and that Apple processed the payment, so only Apple can review and issue a refund, because its own support team cannot access or refund App Store charges. Second, whether the terms leave a way out: the Consumer Terms state that if access is terminated due to a violation of the Terms and you have a Subscription, you will not be entitled to any refund, while the same section says that when Anthropic ends a subscription for any other reason and you bought it on its website, the remaining portion is refunded pro rata. Third, a refund is not a cancellation: the help center notes that requesting a refund does not cancel your subscription, so the next charge still has to be stopped by canceling. Why a particular account was terminated is the vendor's judgment and is not published, so this page does not guess.
What the three sets of official pages say
Anthropic's refund article leads with the non-refundable line and gives an in-product path: log in, click your initials or name in the lower left, choose Get help, click Send us a message, click Accept, pick Claude Refund Request, choose a reason and follow the prompts to check eligibility, and if you are eligible continue in the support messenger to cancel and refund the plan. The same article adds that its support team cannot process refunds while a bank dispute is pending, and that upgrading to Team cancels the individual subscription automatically with a prorated refund for the unused portion, issued about 24 hours after the Team payment goes through. Apple's refund guide is marked as published on 2026-09-17 and gives reportaproblem.apple.com as the self-service place to request a refund, with the same page sending refund requests that cannot be made there to Apple Support, while Apple's media services terms state that all transactions are final. Google Play's refund overview says policies differ depending on what you bought, when and how you paid, and where you are located, and it states that if you give your account or payment details to someone else, appear to be abusing its policies, or do not protect your account with authentication, it usually cannot issue a refund.
Three dates that matter here
The effective date printed on Anthropic's current Consumer Terms of Service, the document whose termination clause says a subscription terminated for a violation is not entitled to any refund.
The publication date shown on the Apple support article “Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple”.
This page's check date. The Anthropic help articles and both legal documents, the Apple and Google Play refund pages, QCode's own site pages and two QCode documentation pages were re-crawled that day; the Anthropic Usage Policy captured then is marked “Effective November 12, 2026”.
Verbatim wording vs what no one published
Confirmed (verbatim on the pages)
All of this can be matched word for word on the pages captured on 2026-10-13. Anthropic help center: payments are non-refundable except as expressly provided or required by law; EEA and UK refunds within 14 days, prorated by use; only Apple can review and refund App Store charges; requesting a refund does not cancel the subscription; an active Android subscription needs an eligibility check first, while an inactive one requires the email on your Google Play account or the GPA order number on your receipt; refunds cannot be processed during pending disputes; upgrading to Team cancels the individual subscription and pays back the unused portion pro rata, about 24 hours after the Team payment. The cancellation article: cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date, and the monthly API credits included with Max and Team plans are not purchased, so they cannot be refunded and expire at the end of each billing cycle. Apple: the reportaproblem path and the 24 to 48 hour wait, and terms that say all transactions are final. Google Play: 1 to 4 days for a decision, most payouts within 10 business days back to the original payment method, usually no refund when account or payment details were handed to someone else, developers may process refunds under their own policies, and unauthorized charges should be reported within 120 days of the transaction. Two lines from our own site: there is no subscription account here that could be banned, and QCode does not support refunds, with balance transfers between members as the alternative and a prorated upgrade credit as the only exception.
Not published, so not on this page
Anthropic has not published the process or the thresholds behind a ban decision, how often one happens, or the reason for any specific termination, so this page draws no conclusions and offers no way to dodge a ban or keep an account alive. Whether a banned account can still be refunded through a store is not stated either: Anthropic only says App Store charges are Apple's to decide and that an active Google Play subscription is checked for eligibility first, and beyond that the official pages say nothing. Circulating claims about a wave of bans or about a second ban never being refunded have no first-hand official source, so no ban-rate or volume figures appear here. Apple's guide says only that refund eligibility may vary by country or region and publishes no common approval standard; Google Play likewise leaves part of the decision to developers. Two sentences often repeated online appear nowhere in the official pages: that a banned account is refunded automatically, and that a ban entitles you to get subscription fees back.
The subscription refund route vs the metered key route
A Claude Pro or Max subscription
You pay monthly or yearly to Anthropic or to an app store. Nothing is refundable by default; EEA and UK buyers may have a prorated 14-day window; the terms are explicit that a termination for a violation pays nothing back; and for anything bought through a store the terms say “Any refunds for Subscriptions purchased via an App Distributor are subject to the App Distributor’s terms and not these terms”. Whether you are refunded is the vendor's and the store's decision, and no official page gives a figure you can compute yourself.
A QCode metered API key
You top up first, then buy a plan that draws down the balance; that is how the documentation describes the order. Our ban guide states there is no subscription account here that could be banned. QCode's own refund terms are strict too: no refunds, with balance transfers between members as the alternative and prorated upgrade credit as the only exception.
The three official request paths
① Web subscriptions on claude.ai or Claude Desktop: log in and click your initials or name in the lower left, choose Get help to open the messenger, click Send us a message, click Accept, pick Claude Refund Request, choose your refund reason and follow the prompts to check eligibility; if you are eligible, continue in the support messenger to cancel and refund the plan. That page also warns that its support team cannot process refunds during pending disputes, so you either keep working with your bank until the dispute is resolved or withdraw the dispute, which lets it process a refund. ② App Store purchases on iOS: sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple Account used to buy the subscription, tap or click “I'd like to” and choose “Request a refund”, choose a reason then Next, select your Claude subscription and click Submit, then wait 24 to 48 hours and check the status on the same site; Anthropic stresses that App Store charges can only be reviewed and refunded by Apple, and that requesting a refund does not cancel the subscription. ③ Google Play on Android: an active subscription is checked for eligibility by Anthropic's support team first, while an inactive one requires contacting support with the email on your Google Play account or the GPA order number on your receipt; on Google's side a decision usually takes 1 to 4 days and approved refunds return to the original payment method, usually within 10 business days. To avoid the next charge on a subscription that stays active, such as after an App Store refund request, cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date.
On QCode
QCode sells a metered API key, not a Claude subscription account. Register in the console, top up, then buy a plan that is drawn down from your balance. Claude models use the Anthropic-protocol endpoint: set ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL to https://api.qcode.cc/api, which the SDK extends to /api/v1/messages, and put claude-sonnet-5-5, claude-opus-5-5, claude-haiku-4-5-20251001 or claude-haiku-5-5 in the model field; GPT and domestic models use https://api.qcode.cc/openai/v1. CNY balances accept Alipay and WeChat Pay, and USD balances accept Visa, Mastercard and AMEX credit or debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and cryptocurrency. Billed per token; per-model rates are listed on /models. If money went to the wrong place, the standing terms apply: QCode does not support refunds, and what is available instead is a balance transfer between members or a prorated upgrade credit.
Frequently asked questions
If my Claude account is banned, can I get the subscription fee back?
Under the published terms, usually not. The Consumer Terms say that if access to the Services is terminated due to a violation of the Terms and you have a Subscription, you will not be entitled to any refund. The help center puts the baseline in its first line: except as expressly provided in the Consumer Terms of Service or where required by law, all payments are non-refundable. The same section adds that when Anthropic itself ends a subscription for another reason and you bought it on its website, the remaining portion is refunded pro rata. The reason for any individual termination is not published, and this page does not guess it.
I bought Claude Max through the Apple App Store and the refund was refused. What now?
Only Apple can decide that charge. Anthropic's help center states that an iOS subscription was purchased through the Apple App Store and that Apple processed the payment, so only Apple can review and issue a refund, and its support team cannot access or refund App Store charges; the same page notes that App Store refunds are granted at Apple's discretion. Apple's official guide points to reportaproblem.apple.com, asks you to wait 24 to 48 hours for an update, and says refund eligibility may vary by country or region. Keep the other warning too: requesting a refund does not cancel your subscription, so cancel separately if you do not want the next charge.
How do I request a refund for Claude bought on Google Play?
Both sides are involved. On Anthropic's side an active Android subscription requires its support team to check eligibility first, and an inactive one requires contacting support with the email tied to your Google Play account or the GPA order number from your Google Play receipt. On Google's side a decision usually takes 1 to 4 days, and approved refunds are typically returned to the payment method used for the original purchase, most within 10 business days. Google Play Help also says most apps on the Play Store are made by third-party developers who can process refunds pursuant to their own policies and applicable laws, and that it usually cannot issue a refund if you handed your account or payment details to someone else or appear to be abusing its policies.
How do I pay and get started from China?
You can leave the subscription route aside: QCode works on prepayment, so you top up, buy a plan, and the plan draws down the balance. CNY top-ups work with Alipay and WeChat Pay, while USD balances accept Visa, Mastercard and AMEX credit or debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and cryptocurrency. Billed per token; per-model rates are listed on /models.
Do the monthly API credits that come with Max get refunded too?
No. The cancellation article states that the monthly API credits included with Max and Team plans are not purchased, so they cannot be refunded; they expire at the end of each billing cycle. If you cancel or receive a refund, new monthly credits stop, and credits you already hold stay usable until they expire.
Can QCode refund my balance?
No. The wording on our own billing and refund page is that QCode does not support refunds, because a digital product occupies account resources and starts billing as soon as it is activated; the alternative offered is a balance transfer between members, requested by email with the amount and the receiving address and usually handled within one business day, and withdrawals are not supported. The only exception is an upgrade: after you buy a plan with a larger quota, the remaining time value of the old one is converted pro rata into QCode balance, credited as balance rather than returned to the original payment channel.
