GLM-5.3 is not released
Sighting ≠ GA

Z.ai's public flagship is still GLM-5.2, released 2026-06-16 with MIT weights and a 1M context window. A glm-5.3 branch in an SDK repository and a founder's community poll do not yet amount to a model card.

Four facts that rank and stay true

No GA

No blog, no card

docs.z.ai / z.ai/blog still point at GLM-5.2 as the latest flagship.

Spotted

2026-08-03

r/LocalLLaMA: zai-org/z-ai-sdk-java branch glm-5.3; Bing CN indexed the string. That is a leaklet, not GA.

Vision?

Community ask

Jie Tang (2026-06-29) asked what 5.3 should include. Replies piled on vision. Not a promise.

5.2 now

744B / 40B act.

These are GLM-5.2's specifications: 1M context, MIT weights and long-horizon agent capability. GLM-5.3 has no published specs at all, and this page does not present 5.2's numbers as expectations for 5.3.

What “GLM-5.3” means in search

People want the next Z.ai open-weight jump after GLM-5.2’s June splash. Some posts skip to “GLM-5.5”. This page treats 5.3 as an in-development name that has been spotted — and 5.5 as a competing rumor — until Z.ai posts a release note.

What the circle is watching

Cadence from 5 → 5.1 → 5.2 was roughly 6–8 weeks, so August was a popular guess. An SDK branch in early August kept the rumor warm. Separately, GLM-5V-Turbo already sells vision as a closed API — developers want that in the open-weight line.

Public crumbs

GLM-5.2 launch: 1M context, long-horizon, MIT weights on Hugging Face.

Confirmed vs rumor

Confirmed

No official GLM-5.3 release note, price, size, or bench. Live flagship is GLM-5.2. A git branch named glm-5.3 exists. The founder ran a public wishlist thread.

Rumor

Three claims are circulating: a mid-to-late August ship window, native vision in the open model, and a skip straight to GLM-5.5. All three trace back to community speculation or third-party blogs extrapolating the release cadence. Z.ai has confirmed none of them and has published no benchmark figures.

What to use while you wait

Need open-weight long agents today

GLM-5.2 is the documented model. Also DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731 / V4 Pro 0813.

Need vision now

That is a different SKU conversation (e.g. closed GLM-5V-Turbo). 5.3 has not promised it.

How this page flips green

When z.ai/blog or HF shows GLM-5.3, replace the badge, paste official benches, and drop rumor language. Until then keep the amber tracker.

On QCode

GLM-5.3 has not been released, so no platform can offer it. QCode currently lists glm-5.1 and glm-5.2 on /models, both directly usable; the on-site /glm-5-2-guide covers them in more detail.

GLM-5.3 FAQ

Is GLM-5.3 out?

No official release as of 2026-08-14.

I saw glm-5.3 on GitHub / Bing. Is that the model?

That is a string sighting (SDK branch / index). It is not a Hugging Face model card or API GA.

Will GLM-5.3 have vision?

Unknown. The community asked for it. Z.ai has not committed in a release note.

Did they skip 5.3 for 5.5?

Some articles guessed 5.5. The glm-5.3 branch argues the name is still in play. Treat both as unconfirmed.

Can I copy GLM-5.2 benchmarks onto 5.3?

No. Different version, unpublished evals.

What should I run today?

GLM-5.2 if you want that line; otherwise DeepSeek V4 0731/0813, Kimi K3, or Claude / GPT options on /models.
