Checked on

This page rests on the official model overview, the deprecations page, the pricing page and the Fable model pages, all captured 2026-10-26.

What this is

"Claude Fable 5.2" is a label circulating off-site; as of 2026-10-26 the official model overview has no matching row: the comparison table's four columns are claude-fable-5-1, claude-opus-5-5, claude-sonnet-5-5 and claude-haiku-5-5. Anthropic does ship minor versions — the Legacy list on the same page includes claude-fable-5 and several older Opus models — so "5.2" is not an impossible name. But as checked on 2026-10-26 the Fable generation has a latest row, claude-fable-5-1 (Released September 1, 2026), with no 5.2 row, id, date or price. Claude Mythos 5.1, released 2026-09-01, is not a new version number either: Anthropic states that Claude Mythos 5.1 has the same specifications and pricing as Claude Fable 5.1, and access requires Anthropic verification; access to Mythos 5.1 remains available only to organizations verified through Anthropic's verification programs, and it is not Fable 5.2.

What happened

On Fable 5.2: checked 2026-10-26: the comparison table in the official overview still has four columns — Claude Fable 5.1, Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Claude Haiku 5.5, with Fable 5.1 as the latest (2026-09-01, Released September 1, 2026, retirementNotBefore 2027-09-01, marked Latest on the official model page). The official model pages list Claude Fable 5 as Legacy, released 2026-06-09 (June 9, 2026); Fable 5.1 and Fable 5 both carry an official price of $10 input / $50 output per million tokens, with cache reads of $0.25 and $1 respectively. The additions since 2026-09-18 are Opus 5.5 (releasedOn 2026-09-22), Sonnet 5.5 (2026-09-28) and Haiku 5.5 (2026-10-07) — the 5.5 family; claude-opus-5 is now in the Legacy list on the same page.

Confirmed vs caution

Officially confirmed

Official model overview (captured 2026-10-26): the latest Fable row is claude-fable-5-1, Released September 1, 2026, lifecycle active, and the deprecations page lists retirement no sooner than 2027-09-01; the other three columns are Opus 5.5 (releasedOn 2026-09-22), Sonnet 5.5 (2026-09-28) and Haiku 5.5 (2026-10-07), all four lifecycle active. The official model pages mark Fable 5.1 as Latest and Fable 5 as Legacy; Fable 5 was released June 9, 2026. Both carry an official price of $10 input / $50 output per million tokens, with cache reads of $0.25 and $1 respectively. Anthropic also has Claude Mythos 5.1 (claude-mythos-5-1, released 2026-09-01, $10 / $50), still available only to organizations verified through Anthropic's verification programs. The previous Opus 5 (claude-opus-5) now sits in the Legacy list on the same page.

⚠️ Caution

Any evidence that "5.2 already exists somewhere" sits outside official documentation — the model overview, the deprecations page, the pricing page and the Fable model pages, all captured 2026-10-26, contain no Fable 5.2 and no claude-fable-5-2. No date, capability or price for 5.2 has been published, and screenshots are not a source; the existing Claude Mythos 5.1 is not 5.2 either.

Same vs differs

Same

claude-fable-5-1 and claude-opus-5-5 (released 2026-09-22) both sit in the official comparison table with API id, releasedOn and retirementNotBefore (no earlier than 2027-09-01 and 2027-09-22 respectively).

Differs

claude-fable-5-2 has none of the three: no row, no API id, no lifecycle fields.

What to do

For a Fable tier, set claude-fable-5-1. If you are waiting for 5.2, make "a new row appears in the official model table" your only trigger. Never paste an id from a screenshot into code — it fails outright. Claude Mythos 5.1, released in the same period, is a restricted model and not the 5.2 you are waiting for.

On QCode

As of 2026-10-26, claude-fable-5-1 is callable on QCode: Personal Plans give a daily quota and cover 30 days each; billing is per token, with per-model rates on /models. claude-fable-5-2 is unreleased, so QCode offers no id for it. Not ready for a monthly plan? Pay-as-you-go Packs start at $4 for a one-time quota you use within 7 days; if you already have a Personal Plan, add a booster pack when you need more quota.

First, the versions: the official page lists claude-fable-5 next to claude-fable-5-1, whose official release date is 2026-09-01 (Released September 1, 2026); this does not change the fact that 5.2 has no official row.
